Allow me to introduce myself,

I'm Frank Leatherbury, owner of Belle Shain—34 acres of mischief, manners, and fun since 1958. My father founded Belle Shain, inspired by his childhood at the old Grand Hotel Fish Camp, a beloved property my grandfather purchased in 1939.

Located along the Fish River in Fairhope, Alabama, Belle Shain is a registered historic property in Baldwin County. It’s a place shaped by generations: my grandfather’s love of horses, my father’s devotion to dogs, and my own appreciation for both.

We carry on this legacy with heart, purpose, and a spirit of adventure.

I am an AKC Master Judge and trainer with over 40 years of experience and several thousand dogs under my guidance.

Drawing from my lifelong experience, a bit of college psychology, and an in-depth understanding of both canine and human minds, I teach dogs and their families how to foster rewarding relationships for a more fulfilling life together!

My classes and programs are designed to facilitate the connection you need to have fun with your dog using our trademark method,

Thanks to the direction of Frank and Julius at Belle Shain Kennels, my dog is not the same dog that would gleefully run away while I helplessly called after her. Now my dog has learned to come when called, whether there is a leash on her or not. Frank and Julius even went the extra mile to help desensitize my dog to cats and also to chickens. I was welcomed to practice off-leash recalls at the farm even on days in which we did not have a formal lesson which helped provide a safe environment. To top it all off, Frank took the time and energy to evaluate my dog for the AKC's Community Canine and Urban Canine Good Citizen tests. My dog passed them both and no doubt the serious work we did at Belle Shain Kennels set us up for success with the tests as well.
