Allow me to introduce myself,

I am Frank Leatherbury, the current owner of Belle Shain. We were established in 1958 by my father, who grew up at the old Grand Hotel Fish Camp, which was purchased by his father in 1939. Belle Shain is a registered historic property in Baldwin County, AL, along Fish River in Fairhope. Our heritage is rooted in my grandfather’s love for horses, my father’s passion for dogs, and my appreciation for both!

I am an AKC Master Judge and trainer with over 40 years of experience and several thousand dogs under my guidance.

Drawing from my lifelong experience, a bit of college psychology, and an in-depth understanding of both canine and human minds, I teach dogs and their families how to foster rewarding relationships for a more fulfilling life together!

My classes and programs are designed to facilitate the connection you need to have fun with your dog!

Thanks to the direction of Frank and Julius at Belle Shain Kennels, my dog is not the same dog that would gleefully run away while I helplessly called after her. Now my dog has learned to come when called, whether there is a leash on her or not. Frank and Julius even went the extra mile to help desensitize my dog to cats and also to chickens. I was welcomed to practice off-leash recalls at the farm even on days in which we did not have a formal lesson which helped provide a safe environment. To top it all off, Frank took the time and energy to evaluate my dog for the AKC's Community Canine and Urban Canine Good Citizen tests. My dog passed them both and no doubt the serious work we did at Belle Shain Kennels set us up for success with the tests as well.
